SCHEMES IMPLEMENTATION Rural Development The DRDA Kohima was set up in the eyar 1995-96 with the objective of complete decentralisation of power for proper implementation of rural poverty alleviation programme and direct percolation of funds to the target group of people in the rural areas. DRDA Kohima comprises of 7 (seven) blocks namely (1) Kohima Block (2) Tseminyu Block (3) Chiephobozou Block (4) Jakhama Block (5) Jalukie Block (6) Tenning Block and (7) Peren Block. The DRDA deals mainly with the centrally sponsored schemes. However, it also implements some of the state schemes. The programmes that the DRDA is dealing with are as follows :- (1) Centrally sponsored programmes (CSS) (2) State Programmes Scheme under District Industries Centre, Kohima (a) Prime Minister Rozgar Yojna (PMRY) :- The Department is implementing the PMRY self employment Scheme under which educated unemployed youths are to be assisted for setting up small scale business enterprises for self employment. In order to implement the scheme effectively, District level committee has been constituted under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner for scrutiny and selection. The selected person will get loan for setting up their respective business enterprises. Kutir Jyoti Scheme under Power Department:- Under this scheme, connection of power supply to villagers below poverty line are provided free of cost, though they will have to pay for the consumption of energy-electricity bill. Urban Development Swarns Jayanti Sahari Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY) District Welfare Office (1) ICDS Project :- The following package of service are provided through this project : (a) Supplementary Nutrition (2) Old Age Pension (3) Balika Samridhi Yojana (BSY) : It is a centrally sponsored scheme introduced from 2nd October 1997. The objective of this scheme is to improve the overall status of the girl child by changing the social attitude and behavioural practices of the society detrimental fo the welfare of the girl child. The scheme provides a post delivery grant of Rs. 500/- to the mother of the girld child living below poverty line. The scheme also envisages grant of scholarships to girls to improve enrolment and retention of girl-child in school by providing one time financial assistance to unmarried girls of the age group of 18 years to encourage continuing higher education or self employment activity. (4) Programme for disabled persons : (i) Providing artificial limbs through fitment centre, Dimapur in co-ordination with
